CREATIVE WELL-BEING / THERAPEUTIC PLAY
Alonngsie play in a theatre environment, I am a strong advocate for the application and usage of play in various contexts and settings, including therapeutic play, neuro-dramatic play and education. I am particularly passionate about creating spaces for (un)structured play to support emotional well-being and processing in children.

Play (in children and adults) is crucial for stress relief, brain plasticity, neurogenesis, and memory function. It offers an excellent way to reduce stress, build social connections, and release dopamine; a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, motivation, and reward.

PLAY IN THE REHEARSAL ROOM
In the rehearsal room, I embrace the power of play, drawing on the insights of Viola Spolin and Philippe Gaulier's "Le Jeu." Spolin's innovative techniques encourage improvisation, encouraging spontaneity, creativity, and genuine connection among performers. Through playful exercises, I aim to reduce anxiety and unlock emotional expression, creating a safer space where risks are welcomed, and mistakes are celebrated as opportunities for growth.
Gaulier's "Le Jeu" adds another dimension, highlighting the joy and freedom found in play. His methods inspire actors to embrace their uniqueness and delve deeper into their characters. This playful approach not only enhances our performances but also promotes mental and emotional well-being.
By integrating play into our rehearsals, we cultivate a nurturing space that nurtures both creativity and well-being. By integrating play into rehearsals, we not only enrich our performances but also promote mental and emotional health, making the ehearsal room a dynamic space for artistic and personal development.
