CROSSING THE LINE

(A workshop exploring making work with young people.)

"THIS WORKSHOP HAS REALLY MADE ME QUESTION DO I REALLY PUSH BOUNDARIES (ARTISTICALLY) WHEN SAFE GUARDING YOUNG PEOPLE."

WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT

What is the 'line' when creating with young people, how do we define what that 'line' is?  Who sets the parameters?

This discursive workshop for both young people (13 years plus) and adult theatre makers will explore:

  • To what extent are young people 'active' collaborators in process of making work?

  • To what extend do young people create own their self-representation when producing autobiographical work?

  • How authentic is this form of representation?

  • What are the ethical considerations and safe working strategies do we / should we apply when creating work with young people?

  • What are the power dynamics at play between young and adult theatre makers?

This participatory and discursive workshop will be led by Clara Bloomfield for Imaginate and Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and is presented as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Central Events Programme.

This event / workshop is part of Clara's on going research: Childs Play.  For further information see here
